Does it hurt?

Acupuncture: There is a sensation when the needle contacts the energy, which tends to feel like a sharp or dull pinch. This sensation shouldn’t last longer than few seconds.

Chakra Therapy: No it doesn’t. You will be lying comfortably on the couch, fully dressed and my hands will be few inches above your physical body. You will be fully awake and will be able to report any sensation.

Do I need to let my GP or consultant know I’m having treatment?

No, you don’t. But I do recommend that if you are due to see your GP or consultant then let him/her know.

If I’m currently taking medication, is it advisable not to have treatment? Or should I stop them?

On the contrary, acupuncture and chakra therapy are complementary therapies which won’t interfere with the effect of the medication. In some cases it will help ease side effects. However, as you start to feel better it might be an idea to have your medication revised by your doctor. Never stop, even if temporarily, taking your prescribed medication without discussing it with your GP or consultant.

I’m afraid of needles. I can’t stand injections and blood tests.

Actually, acupuncture needles are very different from hypodermic needles. They are smaller and thinner. They are also solid, so won’t take anything into the body or bring anything out of it.

Are the needles disposable?

Yes. They are single use only acupuncture needles.

Can I drink alcohol after session?

Alcohol can affect the treatment, therefore it is advisable not to drink for 24 hours before or after a session.

How about food? Is there anything I should avoid?

No, you should carry on life as normal. There are no problems if you have a big meal before or afterwards, but ideally you should feel comfortable

Can I go to work afterwards?

Absolutely. Some people, though, feel a bit calm after treatments and prefer to relax for the rest of the day. Others feel inspired and full of energy and can’t wait for some action.

Can I go to the gym or for a run?

Yes you can. I recommend people to respond to their bodies. If they feel tired then of course don’t go, but sometimes people feel energized and need a good workout.

I’ve got flu / a headache / stomach upset, should I still come for my session?

Yes, definitely. The treatment should help you get over it faster, and can be useful for me to see how your energy behaves in stressful situations like these. I ask to always contact me first and we can assess the situation if you are unsure.

Can children have treatment?

Yes, but I strongly recommend that the child’s main carer should also have some kind of treatment/support. The reason for this is because children sometimes reflect imbalances which originate in adults. A written consent will be required from the parent or guardian of any child under the age of 18 and a chaperone must be present throughout the session.
