I started acupuncture when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, cancer of the lymphatic system. The treatment helped me in many ways. Physically it helped me with the side effects of a six month course of chemotherapy - I rarely had to take anti-sickness pills following chemo thanks to acupuncture. However, it also gave me the emotional strength to deal with personal issues that various courses of counselling and therapy had never given me. I first went to see Silvio after a miscarriage.  Although emotionally I was in a rotten state through Silvio’s treatment I felt very healthy physically and my cycles returned to normal very quickly. A few years later I went back to see him as I was undergoing IVF treatment and had heard that he worked a lot with women going through treatment.   I had a very easy time of the IVF – which I had been dreading. Not keen on the amount of drugs involved.  I had minimal side effects, which Silvio managed to get rid of entirely, and a textbook experience with a good number of eggs for my age – I was 42 at the time.  It worked first time and the result is my lovely son.  Silvio helped me considerably with the less pleasant aspects of pregnancy and has been and is a wonderful practitioner to work with on many levels.

He also treated my father through final stages of terminal cancer and my Dad felt very much better after his acupuncture and really believed it helped him considerably.  It certainly looked like it.  His body functioned much better when he had acupuncture than the odd week when he missed it.  I can’t recommend Silvio highly enough.  He is a kind, sensitive and immensely skilled practitioner and I have been treated by quite a few acupuncturists in my time! - Vicky Rowland, photographer and mum
